The Pablo Collective | The Death Of Pablo

Originally released last year in January on the Band Camp Platform the Death Of Pablo album is a creative approach to a destroyed and reassembled remix of Kanye West's TLOP (The Life Of Pablo) project, easily rated one of Kanye's most successful projects to date, being the first streaming album to hit platinum status.

The Collective's project stems from both Yeezy's unconventional pre-album release promotional hype, and his supposed "meltdown" a few months after the album's release during his Saint Pablo Tour. The tape, highlighting both the best and the worst of Yeezy's behavior during the onslaught of events that were to transpire after the release of his most anticipated album to date. A darker contrast to Kanye's more upbeat and uplifting The Life Of Pablo album, the unconventional sampling of some of Kanye's most controversial interviews and rants over ambient and sometimes noise-hop type beats set the mood for morbid mystery and a sometimes "what the poes am I listening to" vibe. The album starts off very strong with beautiful samples between Ultralight Wall and Washed Up. The first track on the album being Ultralight Wall featuring samples from the original album's Ultralight Beam as well as Kanye West's Mac Donald's man poem which was originally written for Frank Ocean's 'Boys Don't Cry' magazine. The second track on the album Washed Up contains samples from TLOP's Famous as well as the infamous rant at Kanye's Sacramento Concert during his Saint Pablo tour that resulted in his hospitalization due to an apparent breakdown. The album breaks experimental boundaries mixing industrial hip-hop, chopped and screwed remixing, undeniably great sampling, and a play on conceptualizing the process of events that plagued Kanye's success after the release of his Life Of Pablo project. Not for the faint-hearted, and not the cleanest piece of work we've heard, but definitely a work of art worth giving a listen.
