This passed weekend saw the South African release of the Nike React Element 87, the notably announced sneaker of 2018. The Silhouette, which was originally first released as a product of a collaborative effort between Japanese born streetwear brand, Undercover has made for a refreshing take on sneaker aesthetic, first showing face at the Japanese brand's show at Paris Fashion Week earlier in March. The sneaker, playing on all streetwear and athletic aesthetic qualities alike, allows for versatility in the wardrobe but still acknowledges the practicality and style of a good sneaker aesthetic. With Nike's new react foam technology within the midsole, and a translucent shell playing as the body of the sneaker, the shoe utilises advancement in sneaker aesthetic, and pays homage to the swoosh's ability to ignore the boundaries of sneaker innovation. This weekend saw it's release in both Cape Town and Johannesburg's Shelflife streetwear stores in the form of an in store and online raffle. Both of the sneaker's colourway's in black and white released for the retail price of R2599,00.
